The Vision of Hope 2008
Churches across the United Kingdom are constantly at work serving and communicating with 58 Million residents and many visitors to the United Kingdom. 'Hope' proposes to support this work, by facilitating intensified, united, focused prayer and a year of activities, communicating the Gospel through words and actions, creating a lasting legacy of both physical and spiritual change in the lives of communities and individuals. Coalville Churches Together HOPE 08 Activities
Heartland Youth for Christ have been working closely with Coalville Church leaders in planing and exploring how we can serve the community together.
3 X 50 hour Prayer events (prayer being a key place to start)
There has been 3 50 hour prayer events during the year which have been a great itime of seeking God together for this community. They were hosted by Greenhill Community Church and Margaret Street Church. At the last 50 hours of prayer celebration event we had 8 churches represented which was very encouraging.
Sunrise Easter Service: 23rd March, What a cold morning, as we battled with the snow to meet on top of Warren Hills at 7am to celebrate the risen Jesus. Athough it was cold it was great to be united in celebrating the risen Jesus. We then had a great breakfast back at Greenhill Community Church.
Picnic in the Park: 29th June We gave out over 1000 cups of tea, coffee, and juice and I lost track of how many cakes. We provided kids activities such as face painting and a colouring compititon. The best thing about it was, it was all free to the community, no catch just a free drink and a cake. It was great to see churches working together to bless their community.
Switching on Christmas lights: Council evend 22nd November. We had a community stall with free kids activities and free cakes.but our main event was “Hunt the Nativity cast.” there was 8 people dressed as nativity cast members based around the town, which people had to find and get a stamp. Once they had all the stamps they could be entered into a free competition. We had 94 people complete and hand in their Hunt the Cast card. When people brought back their card they were handed a free cake and a booklets called "Jesus the gift of Hope " by Andy Hawthorn we handed out over 200 booklets. If you have not heard about Hope 08 or the activities planned, ask your Church leaders
